When you join the GoodGrid Community, your home battery is connected with other batteries to send power to the energy grid. Collectively, you're forming a “virtual power plant” that can help the energy grid when it's under stress due to high demand. These are known as “grid events” and typically occur once per month between May 1st and October 31st, and only on weekdays between 4:00 and 9:00 PM local time.
Earn up to $250 annually in GoodGrid Rewards
Based on your participation, you can earn up to $250 annually by participating in the GoodGrid program. Again, no extra effort is required on your part, and GoodLeap will send your payment in the form of a check.
Bonus offer: Join by September 23, 2024 and receive a one-time payment of $100 just for signing up!
Your needs come first—giving you peace of mind.
When grid events are called, 20% of your battery capacity is reserved for your use. When we can track an upcoming outage or severe weather event in your area, your battery will stop sending energy to the grid, preserving any remaining battery power for your home if you need it. Additionally, if you have a battery with backup capability and an outage does occur, your battery will be used solely to back up your home.

FAQs
Who can join the GoodGrid Community?
The GoodGrid Community is available to qualifying GoodLeap customers with batteries in California. We will reach out to you via phone and/or email if you are eligible to join. To join, you will need to complete a few simple steps.
When and how will I receive payment?
A check for the one-time payment of $100 for signing up will be mailed to you within 60 days of joining the GoodGrid community. GoodLeap will also mail you a check for GoodGrid Rewards within 60 days of each grid event, which can equal up to $250 annually.
What happens in the event of an outage or severe weather?
When we are able to track an upcoming outage or severe weather event in your area, your battery will stop sending energy to the grid, preserving any remaining battery power for your home if you need it. Additionally, if you have a battery with backup capability and an outage does occur, your battery will be used solely to back up your home.
How does this differ from my normal use of the battery?
Your battery may already be programmed by your installer, or according to your preferences, to maximize bill savings by charging and discharging energy by tracking your residential electric rate. As part of the GoodGrid Community, your battery will work in the same way except when it is triggered to discharge energy during a grid event. GoodLeap will always reserve 20% of battery capacity even during a grid event. If you have a battery with backup capabilities and there is an outage, all remaining stored energy in your battery will be available to backup your home.
Can I leave or opt out of the GoodGrid Community?
Yes, you can leave the GoodGrid Community at any time by sending an email to VPPadmin@GoodLeap.com. Keep in mind you must stay enrolled in the GoodGrid Community through October 31 of each year to be eligible for one-time and rewards payments.
